What is Tea Ceremony?

Japanese Tea Ceremony is an art form. In the simple act of making tea and drinking it, host and guest share in a ritual of beauty that promotes a profound sense of well being and connection between participants.

Tea Garden Ithaca is dedicated to the study and practice of Japanese Tea Ceremony, and we offer a wide range of ways to experience it.

* Tea Ceremonies $12 per person, for groups of up to 12 people, appointments available.

* Demonstrations for larger groups, either at the Tea Garden or on location, call for pricing.

* Lessons, a wonderful way to fully immerse, $25 each or 10/$200

* Kaiseki Meals, the food serving that accompanies a full tea ceremony, a truly elegant experience starting at $35/per person.

What to expect at a Tea Ceremony:

When you arrive at Tea Garden Ithaca, you will be greeted by your host and invited inside where you can leave any personal items and use the restroom or change into white socks and garden sandals if you like.  There are envelopes at the entrance to place payments.

Tea Garden Ithaca has several trails and a pond if you care to walk. We encourage you to enjoy the beauty, and let your visit unfold naturally. If you have any special requests, such as the need for a chair or special food requirements, you can let us know before the day if possible, or else soon after you arrive. Feel free to ask any questions, and make yourself at garden!
